According to data compiled by the World Health Organization, violence and abuse against women at home has tripled during the lockdown period caused by the pandemic.

The University of Turin has always been at the forefront of preventing and combating violence against women, as well as all gender-based violence. The Unito harassment and violence support service, which has been run by the Centro Antiviolenza E.M.M.A., has been operational for a year now notwithstanding the health emergency period.

In order to reach out to all women who study and work at the University of Turin and are in need of help and support, an online harassment and violence support service was launched by the University of Turin on 5 November 2020.

The Unito harassment and violence support service is a private and protected online meeting room. It is a service designed for listening and offering support to all women who fear of being subjected to violence or who have suffered violence. The service is available every Thursday from 14:00 to 19:00.

If you wish to make an appointment, please send an email message to sportellounito@emmacentriantiviolenza.com or contact us by phone at 011 51 87 438. In case of emergency, you can call 366 46 07 803. Your privacy will be respected at all times.

The service is available to all women who study or work at the University of Turin – students, researchers, teaching staff, admins, and regardless of their being employed full-time or on fixed-term or outsourcing contracts. The service is completely free of charge and is designed to ensure total confidentiality and privacy.

This service was created thanks to the collaboration between the VARCO – VIOLENZA CONTRO LE DONNE: AZIONI IN RETE PER PREVENIRE E CONTRASTARE research group, the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society and the E.M.M.A. Onlus charity. The VARCO research group includes Paola Maria Torrioni (Scientific director), Maddalena Cannito (coordinator), Marinella Belluati, Roberta Bosisio, Denise Dimattia, Francesca Pusateri and Lorenzo Todesco. The EMMA Anti-violence Centre is managed by Silvia Spadini and Silvia Sinopoli, and the contact person is Anna Zucca.
