Course objectives
The course "Clinical interpretation of principal immunological laboratory testing" contributes to the achievement of the goals of the Medicine and Surgery curriculum providing the student with advanced knowledge of interpretation of immunological laboratory testing.
In particular, the advanced course has the aim to provide real-life clinical scenarios with associated immunological laboratory testing and to help the students to correctly use the given information for differential diagnosis, follow-up, management of patients with autoimmune conditions.

Results of learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able to critically evaluate both the methodologies relevant to immunological Laboratory testing and the meaning of the data that can be obtained relating to the immunological pathological conditions. The course has the objectives to deepen the biochemical and molecular pathology knowledge on immunogical testing, by giving real-world clinical scenarios that will help the students to correctly identify and interprete the principal immunogical testing available.
These objectives will be achieved through a flipped methodology. At first the students receive and analyze 3 to 4 reviews that will give a critical insight to immunogical testing. In the second part of the lecture, a series of real-life clinical scenarios will be presented, in order to further analyze how laboratory testing can be interpreted by the treating clinicians.
The purpose of the course is to provide intensive training in order to acquire scientific and technical knowledge in the field of Immunogical Laboratory Medicine.
