Course objectives

The goals of this course are to delineate the fundamentals of disease mechanisms and advanced therapeutic strategies in the management of SLE.

In detail:

1) relevant disease mechanisms in drug discovery

2) key immune checkpoints in SLE targeted by old and novel drugs

3) treat-to-target strategy in SLE: what is it and why we need it

4) patient stratification and personalized treatment

At the end of the course the candidate will be able to:

- recognize SLE activity and damage (related to disease or treatment)

- understand the concept of T2T and its application in SLE

- understand the importance and principles of personalized treatment

- acknowlegde the molecular targets of most commonly used drugs in SLE
