Results of learning outcomes

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

By the end of the course the student will have knowledge and understanding of:

  • biostatistical concepts for the interpretation, evaluation, and communicaiton of biomedical research.
  • descriptive and inferential statistics
  • inductive and deductive reasoning in clinical research
  • statistical software Jamovi

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

By the end of the course the student will be able to:
  • collect and describe data using a statistical software
  • carry out the correct statistical analysis using a statistical software
  • apply the concept of hypothesis testing
  • make inferences about the population under study
  • interpret statistical knowledge in practice

Course delivery

Lectures, tutorials available on the Moodle platform, and didactic activities.

Slides and videos will be available on the Moodle platform: asynchronous
lessons and synchronous exercises (recorded), examples of solved exercises and tests for self-assessment.

ONLINE TEACHING: Should the emergency due to COVID-19 persist, the course will be delivered entirely online. It will be organized in theoretical lessons based on videos published on the Moodle platform and synchronous activities carried out using the WebEx platform.

Learning assessment methods

Learning assessment will be based on a final examination and formative assessments (homeworks and tests).

The final exam will be a test of questions with different formats: multiple choice quizzes, short answers open-ended questions; interpretation of experimental data and resolution of exercises similar to those carried out in class (maximum score 28). Additional 4  points will be awarded based on regularly assigned homeworks
