Results of learning outcomes
-
At the end of the course " Biotechnologic drugs and immuno-mediated pathology" the students will know:
- The classification of the main systemic autoimmune diseases;
- The key pathogenetic pathways underlying the systemic and organ-specific autoimmune diseases;
- The target molecules of biotechnologic drugs;
- The mechanism of action of biotechnologic drugs in autoimmune diseases;
- The main adverse effects of biotechnologic drugs.
The students will be able to:
- Request the appropriate tests before starting therapy with biotechnologic drugs;
- Explain to the patient the main pros&cons of different biotechnologic drugs;
- Monitoring patients treated with biotechnologic drugs by evaluating possible adverse effects, non-response to therapy and relapses of the autoimmune disease;
- Recognize and manage the main side effects of biotechnologic drug therapies to include infections.

Class schedule
Lessons: dal 07/06/2021 to 22/06/2021
Notes: Dear All,
the activity will be delivered as a “flipped classroom” according to the following agenda:
• 07/06/2021 : individual study activity on MOODLE. Classroom attendance is not required. .
• 22/06/2021 (Webex lesson, 11-13): moment of collective discussion
A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home while engaging in concepts in the classroom with the guidance of a mentor.
The flipped classroom intentionally shifts instruction to a learner-centered model in which time in the classroom is used to explore topics in greater depth and create meaningful learning opportunities while students are initially introduced to new topics outside of the classroom. In a flipped classroom, 'content delivery' may take a variety of forms. Often, video lessons prepared by the teacher or third parties are used to deliver content, although online collaborative discussions, digital research, and text readings may be used.
