iPitch Competition | iMed Conference ® 15.0 - Lisbon 2023
The iMed Conference’s iPitch Competition | Public Speaking Competition is a competition for undergraduate and master Life Sciences students designed to offer the participants the opportunity to have a unique clinical or research learning experience in a renowned European Centre with well-known physicians and scientists. This competition aims to encourage students to develop skills in the areas of public speaking and speech delivery by creating an opportunity to learn how to present an idea, approach an audience and convey their message.
Each participant has to defend an opinion of the situation presented and sustain it with persuasive arguments. We have two problems, one for the Clinical category, and the other for the Research category, that serve as a basis for each participant's Pitch.

The clinical internship Host is Professor Efrem Civilini, an accomplished vascular surgeon with extensive experience in complex vascular conditions. He currently serves as the Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at the prestigious Humanitas Research Hospital, in Milan, and as a Professor of Vascular Surgery at Humanitas University. His expertise spans a range of subspecialties, including aortic repair, carotid artery surgery and limb salvage.
The research internship Host is Dr. James Rucker, an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist and NIHR Clinician Scientist Fellow, specialising in mood disorders and psychopharmacology, at the Centre for Affective Disorders at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London (UK). He leads the Psychedelic Trials Group at KCL, investigating the efficacy and safety of the use of novel psychopharmacological approaches, like psychedelics, to treat mental health conditions.
The final Pitches will be presented during the iMed Conference ®, which will take place in Lisbon, on the 22nd of October, 2023.
