Course objectives
The course will introduce the student to the context and practice of medicine for individuals and groups in condition of vulnerability, facilitating the capacity of the student to plan internship in medical centres in the reality of developing countries and in the poorest settings of developed countries, such as reception centres for asylum seekers and refugees or homeless.
- To discuss the positive and negative health implications of globalization
- To describe the health inequalities experienced by individuals in condition of vulnerability
- To understand the methods of Health Equity Audit
- To assess the quality of an Health Equity Audit in different situations of vulnerability
- To discuss the legal implications of the definition of the right to health and health care in the International and Italian legislation
- To draw conclusions about the policy and planning implications for international cooperation for health and for immigration
